1. “YOU ARE REJECTING BAPTISM”
The debate is shifted from “Does water cause saving remission?” to “Do you obey Jesus?” Answer: baptism should be obeyed. The disputed saving mechanism still has to be proved.
2. “YOU BELIEVE IN MENTAL ASSENT”
The choices are falsely reduced to bare intellectual awareness or the entire Church of Christ plan being hidden inside the word believe. Scripture can distinguish faith from later confession, baptism, and works without making faith empty.
3. “ACTS IS WHERE PEOPLE GET SAVED”
John, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Titus, and 1 Corinthians are treated as secondary whenever their direct statements threaten the chart. Yet Acts itself says whosoever believes receives remission (Acts 10:43), all that believe are justified (Acts 13:39), and “Believe... and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
4. “EVERY CONVERSION HAS BAPTISM”
Prompt baptism is turned from evidence of prompt obedience into proof that saving possession was withheld until water. Sequence alone does not establish causation.
5. “YOU WERE BAPTIZED FOR THE WRONG REASON”
Assurance is moved from Christ's promise to reconstructing what the person understood at the moment of immersion. Acts 19 distinguishes John's preparatory baptism from Christian baptism; it does not state a universal “wrong theory = invalid baptism” rule.
6. “OUR CHURCH IS JUST THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH”
A biblical description such as “churches of Christ” is turned into exclusive identification of a modern restoration stream. The move must prove the historical and theological identity, not assume it from a label.
7. “THAT IS A NECESSARY INFERENCE”
Necessary inference is real reasoning. The key word is necessary. If a conclusion is only possible, disputed, or dependent on an added premise, it cannot be used as though Scripture explicitly stated it.
8. “YOU ARE PITTING VERSE AGAINST VERSE”
Scripture comparison is not cancellation. If one proposed interpretation of a difficult verse contradicts clear positive statements elsewhere, the interpretation must be refined until the texts harmonize.
