Old Covenant, New Covenant, and the Sabbath

The covenant distinction is substantially right: Christians are not under the Mosaic covenant as the covenantal rule by which Israel lived. The mistake is using correct covenant distinctions to make every later Church of Christ inference equally binding.

TEXTS THAT SUPPORT THE COVENANT DISTINCTION

Hebrews 8:13; Hebrews 9:15; 2 Corinthians 3; Colossians 2:14–17; Galatians 3; Romans 7 all matter. Christians should not be placed under the Mosaic Sabbath covenant as though they were national Israel.

WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE

“We are under the New Covenant” does not prove the separate claims that salvation begins at water baptism, that New Testament silence always prohibits, that one modern restoration movement uniquely equals the one body, or that every approved example is universally binding.

SABBATH AND FIRST-DAY QUESTIONS

The New Testament records first-day resurrection appearances, first-day assembly/breaking of bread in Acts 20:7, and first-day giving in 1 Corinthians 16:2. Those facts should be studied in their own contexts. They are not evidence that baptism causes justification.
