The cleanest way to test the system is to put its own chain beside the direct salvation statements of Scripture and refuse to blur categories.

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST SYSTEM

The God & Man booklet presents these items as a salvation chain, says salvation always came after baptism, says baptism gives access to Christ's blood, requires baptism for the right reason, and then places faithfulness after baptism.

THE BIBLE'S SAVING PROMISE

HEAR THE GOSPEL→BELIEVE ON CHRIST→LIFE / JUSTIFICATION / REMISSION / SEALING

Repentance, confession, baptism, and faithfulness must then be taught in the categories and contexts where Scripture places them.

THE QUESTION THAT DECIDES THE CASE

Does Scripture require the conclusion that a person who has believed on Jesus Christ remains unforgiven, unjustified, unregenerate, outside Christ, or without eternal life until water baptism is performed for the correct doctrinal reason?

WHY THE CHART FEELS STRONG

Every item on the chart can be supported by a Bible passage. That is not enough. The disputed move is collecting different commands and duties from different contexts and making the collected chain the condition for receiving or keeping eternal life.

THE COLLISION TEXTS

John 5:24The one who believeth “hath everlasting life” and “is passed from death unto life.”

Romans 4:5The one who “worketh not, but believeth” is counted righteous.

Acts 10:43–48; 15:7–11Remission is preached to whosoever believeth; the Spirit falls before water; Peter later says God purified their hearts by faith and concludes salvation is through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 16:30–31The direct answer to “what must I do to be saved?” is “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”

WHAT THIS DOES NOT MEAN

It does not mean baptism is optional in the sense of being disposable. It means a command can be urgent Christian obedience without becoming the instrument by which God justifies the ungodly.
