They needed Christian truth and Christian baptism. That is textual fact.

What the Passage Does Not Say

The passage does not use the phrases “saved state,” “justified at baptism,” “forgiven only when the water touched them,” or “regenerated by the water.” Those are theological conclusions that need proof.

Do Not Turn This Into the Right-Reason Rule
